Boy with rare illness sworn in as honorary firefighter

A five-year-old from Binghamton living with a rare blood disorder saw his dream come true when he became a firefighter for a day, according to WICZ. The surprise came courtesy of Make-A-Wish Central New York, which organized a special swearing-in ceremony.

Greyson Walker beamed as Mayor Kraham officially made him an honorary member of the Binghamton Fire Department. Firefighters gathered to support the young boy, with one saying it was a rare but meaningful chance to give back.

The event fulfilled Greyson’s long-held wish and offered a powerful moment of community, courage, and kindness.
