Flags across New York will be lowered Saturday in tribute to a firefighter who died in the line of duty, according to WICZ. Jason McGlone, assistant chief of the East Branch Fire Department, was electrocuted after stepping out of a truck that had touched live wires at a crash scene on July 17.
Authorities say Joseph E. Bellows, who drove into a utility pole that caused the hazard, has been charged with DWI. McGlone, a 25-year veteran, was remembered for his selfless service.
Governor Kathy Hochul ordered the half-staff honor, calling McGlone a symbol of New York’s dedicated public servants.
