Teen charged after stabbing during Wolcott domestic dispute

A domestic fight in Wolcott turned violent last week when a 17-year-old stabbed a 33-year-old man during a dispute involving children, authorities said.

State Police said Devell Taylor was found with multiple stab wounds at a home on Lake Avenue around 11:45 a.m. on July 17. He was alert when emergency crews arrived and was taken to SUNY Upstate Medical Center for treatment. While his injuries were not life-threatening, he required care in the intensive care unit.

Investigators believe the violence broke out during a domestic dispute earlier that morning. Taylor allegedly became physically aggressive in front of four children. According to police, the teen intervened and stabbed Taylor multiple times during the incident.

The 17-year-old was taken into custody and charged as an Adolescent Offender. He faces counts of second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. The teen was arraigned and released to a relative under electronic monitoring.

On Sunday, Taylor was also charged following the investigation. He faces felony criminal mischief, endangering the welfare of a child, and harassment. He was taken to the Wayne County Jail for arraignment.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
