A Central New York woman swam the entire 16-mile length of Skaneateles Lake to spotlight local water quality efforts, according to CNY Central. Rachael DeWitt completed the swim in just over nine hours to support the Skaneateles Lake Association.
Despite physical exhaustion, DeWitt credited community support — including cheers from Lourdes Camp — with helping her finish. The swim, she said, deepened her commitment to protecting the lake.
Organizers praised her as a selfless leader raising awareness about growing environmental threats.
