Author duo launches bookstore and coffee shop in Dryden

A married author duo is launching an inclusive bookstore and coffee shop this September in Dryden.

Amber and Sam Gellar-Smith, who relocated from North Carolina due to anti-LGBTQ laws, are opening Protagonist Books & Coffee on Main Street. The shop will focus on fiction, host community events, and offer local coffee and baked goods.

The couple hopes the space becomes a welcoming hub for readers and neighbors alike. With a focus on diverse stories and voices, their goal is to help visitors “find your story” in a supportive, literary environment.
