A Southern Tier firefighter died in the line of duty Thursday night after being electrocuted during a crash response, according to WSYR. Jason McGlone, assistant chief of the East Branch Fire Department, was responding to a call in Hancock when a rescue truck made contact with a low-hanging power line.
State Police say McGlone exited the vehicle and was shocked after touching the metal door while grounded. Other responders attempted lifesaving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
