A Marion woman was arrested Thursday following a drunk driving investigation that began after she allegedly drove on the wrong side of the road and nearly hit a sheriff’s patrol vehicle.
Deputies charged 53-year-old Rosalinda Cruz of Chaintree Drive with multiple offenses, including aggravated DWI with a blood alcohol content of .18% or higher, aggravated unlicensed operation, and operating without a court-mandated interlock device. She was taken into custody and transported to the Wayne County Jail for centralized arraignment.
The charges stem from a May 26 traffic stop in the Town of Palmyra. Deputies say Cruz was seen driving northbound in the southbound lane of State Route 21, prompting a stop near Cole Road. A blood test later showed her BAC at .22%, nearly three times the legal limit.
Cruz had a prior DWI conviction within the last ten years and was also cited for several vehicle and traffic violations, including failure to use a designated lane and failure to keep right.
She is scheduled to appear in Palmyra Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
