New hotline lets New Yorkers report discrimination

New Yorkers can now file discrimination complaints by phone for the first time, according to CNY Central.

The New York State Division of Human Rights launched a call center staffed by trained agents to simplify the reporting process and eliminate delays caused by paperwork. Officials say this system—alongside an updated online form—will make reporting more efficient and accessible across the state.

Filing a complaint remains free and does not require a lawyer. The center can be reached at (844) 697-3471.
