City leaders are considering three major paths forward for the aging Geneva Recreation Complex, according to Finger Lakes Times. A recent study presented to the City Council outlines needed upgrades — from replacing the original 1978 ice-making system to possibly rebuilding the entire facility.
Engineer Jared Heinl proposed three options: basic repairs and reconfigurations, a partial rebuild with community center features, or full demolition and new construction. The latter could top $30 million, though grant funding and private partnerships — possibly with Hobart and William Smith Colleges — could offset costs.
City officials say further analysis is needed and that decisions will likely factor into upcoming budget discussions and grant applications due later this summer.
