Yates County officials say a new letter from New York’s Medicaid director has raised alarms over potential funding losses tied to administrative compliance, according to the Finger Lakes Times. The state now plans to review county Medicaid operations monthly and may withhold reimbursements if standards aren’t met.
The directive surprised local leaders, as Medicaid claim reimbursements cover staff salaries and benefits. Meanwhile, updated vaccine guidance and a new immunization schedule were also discussed, along with the county’s bid for $80,000 in state climate funding.
Separately, the legislature passed a resolution recognizing the U.S. Coast Guard’s birthday on August 4.
