The Antique and Classic Boat Show returns to Clift Park in Skaneateles from July 25 to 27, showcasing nearly 80 vintage watercraft from across the country in one of the region’s most beloved summer traditions.
Now in its 47th year—and 31st in Skaneateles—the show is free and open to the public. Hosted by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, it promises a weekend of historic vessels, live entertainment, and interactive family fun.
Exhibits will include lovingly restored runabouts, sailboats, launches, canoes, race boats and more, bearing iconic names like Gar Wood, Chris-Craft and Century. Among the featured boats are Whirlwind III, a 1933 iceboat; Lil Rascal, a 1994 modified runabout; and Tootsie, a 1956 Lone Star Meteor.
One of the most engaging attractions is Little Toot, a mini-tugboat owned by Paul Garrett, president of the Finger Lakes Chapter. “Little Toot, unlike our other displays, is hands-on and open to all,” Garrett said. “We invite you to jump on in, ring the bell, honk the horn, take photos and enjoy.”
The event also includes a full slate of activities: live music performances, village bus tours, youth boat judging, model boat displays, a toy boat painting station, and a raffle with more than 10 prize packages. The boat parade begins at 3:15 p.m. Saturday, led by the Skaneateles Fire Department.
Judging in 35 categories takes place Saturday morning, with the coveted People’s Choice Award announced Sunday afternoon. Visitors can also browse nautical merchandise and this year’s boat show poster, a painting by local artist Joan Marcoccia Coates.
Paid and free parking is available, with a complimentary shuttle running throughout the weekend. For full event details, visit skaneateles.com or facebook.com/skaneateleschamber.
