Rushville man injured in rollover crash after hitting deer

A Rushville man was hospitalized early Tuesday morning after his vehicle struck a deer and overturned several times on State Route 364 in the town of Middlesex.

According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash around 3:05 a.m. on July 8. Investigators say 69-year-old Albert Carmichael was driving north when he hit a deer, lost control, and veered off the road, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times.

Fire personnel extricated Carmichael from the wrecked vehicle. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with complaints of left shoulder pain.

Carmichael was charged with speed not reasonable and prudent under Vehicle and Traffic Law section 1180a, as well as consumption or possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle under VTL 1227.
