Coline Jenkins, great-great-granddaughter of women’s rights pioneer Elizabeth Cady Stanton, was named an honorary citizen of Seneca Falls on July 1, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Jenkins has long advocated for women’s rights and frequently visited the town linked to her ancestor’s legacy.
Jenkins, an author and filmmaker, has championed efforts like preserving Stanton’s home and promoting suffrage memorials nationwide. She co-founded the Stanton Trust and pushed for the Equal Rights Amendment and women’s statues in Central Park.
The Seneca Falls Town Board recognized Jenkins for her lifelong dedication to elevating Stanton’s legacy and furthering the fight for equality, calling her commitment a benefit to the birthplace of the women’s rights movement.
