Webster community rallies to save cherished footbridge

A well-loved bridge at the Webster Arboretum has been closed due to safety concerns, according to RochesterFirst.com. The Carol and Robert Manning Bridge, built with community donations, now needs $3,500 in repairs after its footings were found to be failing.

Arboretum board members spotted the damage during routine checks and launched a GoFundMe to fund the fix. Though some questioned why the town isn’t paying, officials say upkeep is the arboretum’s responsibility.

Volunteers say the bridge is a vital part of the arboretum’s charm and history. All donations will go directly toward restoration once the fundraising goal is met.
