Brian Sanders, manager of the Ontario County Landfill since 2020, will leave his post on July 10 to take a new position with Casella Waste Systems, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Casella, which operates the landfill in Seneca, plans to close the site by the end of 2028 when its permit and contract expire.
Sanders announced his departure at the June 17 Seneca Town Board meeting, citing a desire to be closer to family. Local officials praised his leadership, noting he significantly improved operations and culture at the 389-acre site.
Casella has not yet announced who will replace him.
