$75M investment to boost NY dairy plants

Lactalis USA is investing $75 million to upgrade its dairy processing plants in Walton and Buffalo, according to Spectrum News 1. The move, supported by Gov. Kathy Hochul, aims to modernize equipment, increase output, and create jobs while supporting hundreds of local dairy farmers.

The Walton plant will receive $15 million to automate sour cream and cottage cheese production, adding over 20 new jobs. Meanwhile, Buffalo’s $60 million expansion will increase mozzarella and provolone output by 37 million pounds annually.

The upgrades are part of New York’s broader effort to retain agri-food jobs and solidify its role as a national dairy leader. The facilities process more than 800 million pounds of milk each year.
