Boaters can once again access Seneca Lake from Severne Point, as the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation announced the site’s reopening on Friday.
Located in the town of Himrod, Yates County, the Severne Point Boat Launch Access Site had been closed since early June due to elevated storm water levels and hazardous launch conditions.
The DEC urged boaters to remain cautious, noting that water levels are still above average and may pose safety risks. Launch users are advised to inspect the area carefully for floating debris and other hazards before entering the water.
Concerns about the launch can be reported to the Region 8 Fisheries Office at (585) 226-5343 or via email at [email protected].
