Waterloo supervisor pleads not guilty to charges

Waterloo Town Supervisor Don Trout pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges tied to a 2024 incident at the town Highway Department, according to the Finger Lakes Times. Charges include third-degree burglary, criminal mischief, official misconduct, and conspiracy.

Trout, who has served as supervisor since 2018, is accused of entering the Highway Department with board member Bob Lotz and damaging a TV they had previously ordered removed. Both men declined plea deals and remain free on their own recognizance.

Pretrial motions in Trout’s case are scheduled for September 3. Lotz’s case is expected to go before a grand jury soon.
