Clay is bracing for major traffic disruptions tied to the upcoming Micron megafab, according to a new Draft Environmental Impact Statement. The 719-page report forecasts significant delays at key intersections and highways by 2027.
While no immediate road upgrades are expected by then, long-term plans include building a new interchange connecting Sneller Road, I-81, and Route 11. The project will require approvals from state and federal transportation agencies.
Construction is set to begin in November, and while impacts may be temporary, the report warns traffic effects will be substantial without timely infrastructure solutions.
