Thompson Health’s annual golf tournament brought in $50,000 to support major upgrades to its maternity unit, according to organizers.
Held on June 2 at Cobblestone Creek Country Club in Victor, the Thompson Health Golf Classic drew 112 golfers and marked the first major fundraiser for the $3 million Birthing Center expansion project.
“Our medical staff, nurses, and support staff work hard to provide all of our families with the best possible birthing experience,” said Heather Rickett, director of the F.F. Thompson Foundation. “We want to be able to ensure each one receives the same level of excellence, no matter how busy the Birthing Center may be at the time.”
Proceeds will help renovate overflow hospital rooms used during peak times, adding showers and other features to match the existing labor and delivery rooms. Plans also include new storage areas, an updated triage desk, improved waiting room, and a dedicated medication room.
The Foundation will continue its fundraising efforts at the Sweet Arrival Soirée on August 28 at Lincoln Hill Farms in Canandaigua. Tickets are available at www.ThompsonHealth.com/Gala.
