Motorcyclist dies in high-speed crash in Horseheads

A 22-year-old man died after crashing his motorcycle off Interstate 86 in Horseheads, New York, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office. The fatal accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on June 19 near the Exit 54 off-ramp.


The rider, identified as Dakota M. Keister, was reportedly speeding and weaving between cars before losing control on the ramp. He struck a guardrail and was thrown nearly 100 yards from his 2008 Kawasaki ZX 6R, which was found heavily damaged.

Multiple agencies, including the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division, State Police, and local fire and EMS crews, responded to the scene to assist with the investigation.
