A Corning woman employed at a residential treatment facility for at-risk youth has been arrested and charged with kidnapping, rape, and child endangerment following a New York State Police investigation.
On June 18, troopers from SP Bath arrested Jolene D. Spaulding, 45, after she was found in a parked vehicle with a missing juvenile from Hillside Children’s Center-Snell Farms. The facility is located in the town of Bath in Steuben County.
Spaulding had worked as a Youth Care Professional at Snell Farms for about four months. She was placed on administrative leave on June 15 after administrators raised concerns over possible misconduct involving a juvenile resident.
The situation escalated when the facility reported the youth missing on June 18. Law enforcement located Spaulding and the juvenile later that day at a local park, and both were brought to SP Painted Post for questioning. Investigators determined Spaulding had engaged in a sexual relationship with the juvenile, who had been reported missing.
Spaulding faces charges of kidnapping in the second degree, a class B felony; rape in the third degree, a class E felony; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
