Jennie Sutcliffe has been appointed Tompkins County’s next Whole Health Commissioner, bringing over a decade of experience in public health leadership, according to the Ithaca Journal. Her six-year term begins July 7, pending final state approval.
Sutcliffe, a Trumansburg native, previously led emergency response efforts in New York City and served internationally as a Fulbright scholar. She succeeds Frank Kruppa, who retired after 14 years and helped unify the county’s public and mental health departments into one agency.
Legislators praised Sutcliffe’s expertise, expecting her to guide the department in addressing mental, physical, and environmental health challenges across the community.
