Redevelopment of Hammondsport’s long-vacant Curtiss School will begin this November, transforming the historic site into 24 apartments, according to the Corning Leader. The $9.7 million project aims to provide “missing middle” housing for young professionals and older residents.
The plan includes studios, one- and two-bedroom units, with rents ranging from $1,500 to $2,800. The former school gym will be repurposed into commercial space for retail or office use. Amenities will include parking, a fitness center, and outdoor recreation areas.
The building sits on the former home site of aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss. After years of neglect, the property will be restored into a vibrant residential and community space.
