The Fishers Fire District in Ontario County is on track to be dissolved, according to WHAM. On June 18, the district’s board voted to advance a proposal to close the agency due to projected financial instability.
If approved after a July public hearing, the fire district would officially dissolve by August 31. Fire protection services would then shift to the Town of Victor.
The Fishers firefighters’ union blasted the move as “reckless,” warning it undermines community safety.
