Finger Lakes Community College welcomed 173 students into its chapter of Phi Theta Kappa during the 2024-25 academic year, celebrating their academic excellence and commitment to leadership and service.

Phi Theta Kappa is the national honor society for students at two-year colleges. FLCC’s chapter, Alpha Epsilon Chi, was chartered in 1981 and continues to recognize top scholars with a GPA of 3.5 or higher who have completed at least 15 credit hours toward an associate degree.

In May, the college held a formal induction ceremony featuring a keynote from FLCC alumna and PTK member Jaylea Ransom ’20, now a digital communications specialist at the college. Ransom reflected on her experience completing college during the pandemic, urging inductees to embrace change and remain authors of their own story. “Don’t lose sight of your own journey. Your story matters,” she said.

This year’s inductees represent a wide geographic range, hailing from across New York State—including Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, Yates, and surrounding counties—as well as from Pennsylvania, Texas, and even as far as South Korea.

Students inducted into the society also serve as campus ambassadors and take part in opportunities for scholarship and leadership development. Phi Theta Kappa’s core values—scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship—guide the organization’s efforts to support academic success and community engagement.
