The Florida Panthers cemented their place in NHL history Tuesday night, claiming their second consecutive Stanley Cup with a dominant 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6.
Sam Reinhart erupted for four goals — the first such feat in a Cup Final game since 1996 — while Matthew Tkachuk added the clincher, propelling Florida to its third straight Final appearance and solidifying its status as a modern dynasty.
Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves, stifling Edmonton’s top threats as Florida’s forecheck and defensive core overwhelmed the Oilers. The lone blemish came in the final minutes when Vasily Podkolzin netted a goal.
With key trade acquisitions Brad Marchand and Seth Jones bolstering an already-deep lineup, the Panthers controlled the series and the postseason, winning 11-of-12 series since coach Paul Maurice and Tkachuk arrived in 2022.
Sam Bennett led all scorers with 15 playoff goals and earned the Conn Smythe Trophy.
Canada’s Cup drought extended to 31 seasons, while Florida-based teams have now claimed four of the last six titles.
