Skaneateles boat show returns July 25 with classic craft

Vintage wooden boats and family fun will fill the waterfront in Skaneateles as the 47th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show returns to Clift Park from July 25 to 27.

Hosted by the Finger Lakes Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society and the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, the free event is expected to draw about 10,000 visitors and will feature more than 80 historic watercraft, many restored to pristine condition.

The show runs Friday from 3 p.m. to dusk, Saturday from 9 a.m. to dusk, and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Legendary names like Chris-Craft, Century, and Gar Wood will be on display, along with one-of-a-kind vessels and recent restorations from across North America.

Highlights include a Saturday boat parade led by the Skaneateles Fire Department, live music performances all weekend, model boat displays, and guided historical tours. Kids can enjoy hands-on crafts and judging activities, while boat enthusiasts can take part in photo cruises aboard the Judge Ben Wiles and vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The featured poster artwork, inspired by a 1994 photo and painted by Skaneateles artist Joan Marcoccia Coates, will be available for purchase.
