ESL Federal Credit Union named a top New York workplace

ESL Federal Credit Union has again earned recognition as one of the best places to work in New York State, marking its eighth appearance on the prestigious list curated by Great Place to Work® and Fortune magazine.

The Rochester-based financial institution ranked 19 among 65 small and medium-sized companies on the 2025 Best Workplaces in New York list. ESL joins other respected employers including First American Equipment Finance, Doyle Security Systems, and Miller & Associates LLC in the small and medium category, and Wegmans, Labella Associates, and The Bonadio Group in the large company category.

“We are grateful for this recognition and its reflection of our employees at ESL who live our core values daily to create a positive workplace culture,” said Maureen Wolfe, executive vice president/director, human resources & community impact. “Our collaborative culture and commitment to continuous feedback help us grow as an organization while also making positive impacts on our members and community.”

The rankings are based on employee feedback collected through surveys conducted by Great Place to Work®. Each certified company in New York is evaluated using the organization’s “For All Methodology,” which emphasizes consistent, positive experiences for every employee, regardless of role or background.

ESL Federal Credit Union, founded in 1920, serves more than 438,000 members and 17,200 businesses. With a 24-branch network and digital banking options, it holds over $9.4 billion in assets and employs approximately 950 people in the Greater Rochester area. Since 2018, ESL has reinvested more than $153 million in community grants and has distributed more than $320 million in Owners’ Dividends since 1996.
