The North Rose-Wolcott Central School District has welcomed back a familiar face to its leadership team, appointing Joseph Canori as assistant principal of NRW Middle School. Canori began his new role on July 14.
Canori previously served as an assistant principal intern at North Rose-Wolcott Elementary during the 2022–23 school year and said the opportunity to return to the district felt like “coming home.”
“The positive culture within the district is unmistakable. Everyone here is united by a shared commitment to student success,” Canori said. “That sense of belonging I felt from day one has never left.”
Most recently, Canori was an assistant principal at Newark High School. His career in education includes roles as a special education teacher in the Webster Central School District and a math teacher at the Norman Howard School in Rochester. He has also coached basketball at various levels. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Nazareth University and an administrative certificate from SUNY Oswego.
In his return to NRW, Canori said he looks forward to reconnecting with staff, students, and families while continuing to build relationships that foster learning and personal growth.
“Most of all, I’m eager to be part of the ongoing efforts to foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring space where all learners feel seen, valued and empowered to succeed in life,” he said.
