Arcadia man arrested in crack cocaine and firearm investigation

A months-long drug investigation has led to the arrest of a man from Arcadia following the discovery of crack cocaine and a stolen firearm, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday.

Modesto R. Rodriguez, of Route 31 in Arcadia, was arrested June 7 in connection with an investigation that began in July 2024. Authorities executed a search warrant on his residence after controlled narcotics purchases were made by law enforcement.

Deputies recovered 4.6 ounces of crack cocaine and a stolen handgun during the search. Rodriguez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree (A-II felony), criminal possession of a loaded firearm in the second degree (C felony), and two B-felony charges for possession and sale of a controlled substance in the third degree.

Rodriguez was booked at the Wayne County Jail and scheduled to appear in CAP Court at 7 p.m. on June 7. The Newark Police Department assisted in the investigation.
