Stefanik launches PAC, eyes governor’s race

Rep. Elise Stefanik is taking early steps toward a 2026 run for New York governor by launching a new political action committee, according to Politico. The “Save New York” PAC will raise funds for local Republican candidates and build her statewide influence.

Stefanik plans to direct money to GOP races across the state, including one this week to Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a potential rival for the nomination. Her effort aims to strengthen ties with downstate Republicans ahead of a likely showdown with Gov. Kathy Hochul.

Though she hasn’t announced officially, Stefanik is the early GOP frontrunner in polls. Her national profile and Trump ties give her fundraising clout—but running statewide would mean giving up her safe congressional seat.
