After nearly a decade off the menu, McDonald’s is officially bringing back the Snack Wrap on July 10, 2025, at restaurants nationwide. The long-awaited return comes after years of customer petitions, viral videos, and growing demand for lighter fast-food options.
Why McDonald’s is bringing the Snack Wrap back
McDonald’s discontinued the original Snack Wrap in the U.S. back in 2016, citing the item’s complexity in kitchen prep. But that decision never sat well with customers. A Change.org petition gathered nearly 19,000 signatures, and social media buzz around Snack Wrap nostalgia has never died down.
“We listen to our fans, and the Snack Wrap’s return is a testament to that,” said Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald’s USA.
But it’s also a strategic business move: Snack Wraps are smaller, lower-cost, and potentially more appealing to inflation-conscious customers who are eating out less. With same-store sales down 3.6% in Q1 2025, the fast-food chain is looking to reclaim budget-minded diners.
What’s in the new Snack Wrap?
The revived Snack Wrap will feature:
- A McCrispy Strip (fried, not grilled)
- Shredded lettuce
- Shredded cheese
- A soft flour tortilla
Customers can choose from two flavors:
- Spicy (with habanero sauce)
- Ranch (classic, creamy)
Combo meals will include two Snack Wraps, fries, and a drink, though prices may vary by location.
What’s missing from the menu?
Unlike earlier versions, grilled chicken and honey mustard options will not be available — at least not yet. McDonald’s says this is to ensure consistency and speed of service across its 13,500 U.S. locations.
Fans in Canada and Europe will still see more Snack Wrap varieties, including breakfast versions and fish options, which remain popular overseas.
Popeyes, Burger King, and others join the wrap wars
The Snack Wrap comeback also reflects the growing battle for fast-food chicken dominance.
- Popeyes launched its own chicken wraps on June 2, offering Classic, Spicy, and Honey Mustard options.
- Burger King and Wendy’s already sell chicken wraps, as does Wawa in many U.S. states.
- At Burger King, a Royal Crispy Wrap sells for $2.99, compared to $5.49 for a full sandwich.
Steve Davis, a former loyal Snack Wrap buyer in Florida, said he’s ready to return.
“I’m not even a fast-food fan, but Snack Wraps felt healthier — like an actual wrap.”
