The Auburn Planning Board will meet tonight at 6:30 p.m. to review several significant development proposals, including a 50-unit apartment complex and improvements at a historic site.
One of the evening’s key agenda items is a site plan review for 197 North Street, where Ithaca Neighborhood Housing Services is proposing a three-story, 50,000-square-foot apartment building. The project includes 57 parking spaces — with accommodations for electric vehicles and ADA compliance — along with a playground, community gathering areas, landscaping, and stormwater management infrastructure.
In response to public comments, the project team has already revised the landscape design to include more street trees and reduce light pollution. They also removed a previously planned basketball hoop and adjusted stormwater basin slopes to improve safety.
The board will also consider a site plan application for Willard Chapel at 17 Nelson Street. The proposal, submitted by architect Jonathan Carnes, includes a parking lot expansion, new walkways, and lighting improvements to enhance accessibility and visitor experience.
Additionally, the board will review a special use permit for a home-based online business, CNY Surplus Inc., at 36 Grove Avenue. The applicant, Connie Laxton, plans to operate the e-commerce business from her residence.
