It was a big day across Section V with championships and title-game berths on the line.
In softball, top-seeded Bloomfield rolled to a second straight Class C1 title behind a one-hit shutout and six strikeouts from Tournament MVP Ashlyn Wright.
On the boys lacrosse field, both Class B semifinals lived up to the hype, with No. 1 Canandaigua edging Irondequoit in overtime with Drew Williamee netting the game-winner. Meanwhile, No. 2 Victor pulled away from Pittsford behind Matthew Herendeen’s seven-point game. The two powerhouses will meet for the Class B championship on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Tournament MVP Ashlyn Wright threw a dominant one-hitter with six strikeouts to lead the Bombers to the Class C1 title on Saturday, securing Bloomfield’s second straight sectional crown. Wright allowed just two baserunners all game and got plenty of early run support as Bloomfield scored five runs in the first inning and six more in the second. Calla McCombs led the offense with a triple and double, while Abby O’Brien added a two-run single. The Bombers, now 19-1 with 10 shutouts this season, will face Bolivar-Richburg next in the state qualifier on Monday as they aim to return to the state finals.
