Congressman Josh Riley has submitted over $55 million in federal funding requests to support 15 community-driven projects across Upstate New York, focusing on health care, public safety, infrastructure, and job creation.
The proposals, announced Tuesday, are part of the Fiscal Year 2026 Community Project Funding process and were developed in partnership with local leaders. Each project complies with eligibility criteria set by the House Appropriations Committee and includes required financial disclosures.
“These projects are about doing right by our communities,” said Riley. “They’re about making sure a nurse in Johnson City has the training she needs, that firefighters in Guilford have a safe place to work, and that a young person in Ithaca or Endicott has somewhere to turn after school.”
Highlights include $1.6 million for a regional nursing school in the Southern Tier, $12 million for improvements to the East Greenbush Police Department, and $6 million for wastewater upgrades in Bloomingburg. Additional projects range from hospital renovations and youth center expansions to firehouse construction and incubator facilities aimed at growing the local economy.
Riley said the requests target “real-world challenges,” including access to clean water, affordable housing, and quality health care in rural areas. Final decisions on funding will come later this year as Congress finalizes the federal budget.
