The Ontario County Board of Supervisors will meet Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at 4-H Camp Bristol Hills, with a full agenda that spans upgrades to emergency communications systems, multiple Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) capital projects, health and public safety initiatives, and a regional tourism update.
Emergency services and public safety lead the agenda
The Board is expected to authorize more than $738,000 in contracts to upgrade the county’s emergency communications systems, including a no-cost extension for the Seneca County Hillside radio project and a second-year work scope agreement for the Emergency Communications Network Core upgrade.
Lawmakers will also vote on accepting a $213,000 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) grant and awarding a nearly $500,000 contract to Brite Computers for license plate readers and surveillance cameras. A contract with Sapphire Health for electronic medical records at the county jail is also on the table.
Health and human services proposals include elder abuse awareness
In the health and human services sector, the Board will consider an extension of its state-funded rabies control program through 2027, an agreement for forensic psychiatry services, and a proclamation naming June 15 as World Elder Abuse Awareness Day in Ontario County.
Also slated for approval are partnerships with Nazareth University for public health internships, a data-sharing agreement with the state health department, and a renewed nutrition program collaboration with the Gorham Fire Company.
FLCC capital projects receive continued investment
Several capital projects at Finger Lakes Community College are up for final approval, including contracts for lab furniture, HVAC upgrades, and new picnic tables to complete the nursing expansion project. Budget transfers associated with these initiatives will also be voted on.
Environmental initiatives support Honeoye Lake
The Board will decide on purchasing a used dump truck for the Honeoye Lake Aquatic Vegetation Management Program and entering into a labor-sharing agreement with the Town of Canadice to support seasonal maintenance at the lake, using state watershed protection funds.
Other business includes road safety, generator maintenance, and tourism
Other notable agenda items include:
- A cooperative agreement with the Town of Phelps to install radar speed signs on county roads.
- A contract with Cummins, Inc. for emergency generator maintenance.
- Acceptance of the Campbell Commission’s Community Liaison Team Report on mental health and service gaps.
- Updates from Finger Lakes Visitors Connection.
The Board will also vote on a resolution supporting the proposed 550-mile Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Byway, reinforcing its regional commitment to heritage tourism and historical preservation.
