Seneca Falls man charged with felony DWI after Circle-K incident

A man was arrested Monday morning in Seneca Falls after police responded to reports of a disorderly person at a convenience store and found him allegedly intoxicated behind the wheel.

Wayne E. Smith, 55, of Seneca Falls, was taken into custody by the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department at 7:38 a.m. on May 26 following an incident at the Circle-K on 193 Fall Street.

Officers arrived at the store after receiving a call about a disruptive male inside the premises. Police said they identified Smith as the individual in question and, during their investigation, determined that he had driven to the store while under the influence of alcohol.

Authorities confirmed that Smith was charged with two felony counts of driving while intoxicated. The charges stem from the fact that he has two prior DWI convictions within the past ten years, making this his third such arrest.

Smith was processed at the scene and later released with an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charges at a later date.
