
As Americans hit the road for Memorial Day weekend, gas prices are holding steady. According to AAA, the national average for a gallon of regular is $3.19, unchanged from last week and the lowest Memorial Day price since 2021.

Fuel prices have remained unusually stable throughout 2025, thanks to strong crude oil supply outpacing demand. Gasoline production also increased last week to 9.6 million barrels per day, while demand dipped slightly to 8.64 million barrels per day.

Oil and energy outlook
Crude oil closed at $61.57 per barrel, with U.S. oil inventories rising by 1.3 million barrels. At 443.2 million barrels, current inventories remain 6% below the five-year seasonal average.
Electric vehicle (EV) drivers will also see stable pricing. The national average for public EV charging remains 36 cents per kilowatt hour.
