A Canandaigua man faces multiple charges after a traffic stop led to a DWI and drug possession arrest early Saturday morning.
Deputies from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Juan Garcia-Rivera, 37, around 2:49 a.m. on May 18, following a stop on State Route 332 near the Farmington-Canandaigua townline.
Investigators said Garcia-Rivera was driving while impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol and was found with two controlled substances in his possession. Deputies also cited him for several traffic violations, including moving unsafely from a lane, driving too slowly, making an improper left-hand turn, and operating a vehicle without a plate.
Authorities reported that Garcia-Rivera refused to submit a blood or breath sample for toxicology testing. He was taken to the Ontario County Jail and held pending centralized arraignment.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation.
