The Geneva Family YMCA has hit a major milestone in its long-awaited renovation and expansion effort, with the foundation now in place for a brand-new wellness center.
Executive Director Todd Freelove announced that the concrete pad for the 10,000-square-foot wellness space has been successfully poured. “This achievement brings us closer to completing the 10,000 square foot wellness space that will greatly enhance our fitness center,” he said in a project update shared Saturday morning.
Coming up next, workers will begin installing window frames, followed by the windows themselves. The YMCA also plans to install a new stairwell on the south side of the building next week. Once that step is complete, crews will begin final roof repairs, aiming to ensure a secure and functional facility.

The renovation project has remained on schedule despite some unexpected structural changes. A steel-related change order has not derailed progress, thanks in part to continued financial backing. The Lisk-Morris Foundation has pledged a matching grant of up to $300,000, which Freelove called “vital in keeping our project on budget and on schedule.”
The project is designed to deliver a modernized, state-of-the-art fitness space for the Geneva community. Freelove thanked supporters for their ongoing enthusiasm and said the organization looks forward to sharing more updates as work continues.
