A Rochester man was seriously injured Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash during a race at Land of Legends Raceway in the Town of Canandaigua.
Ontario County deputies responded to the track at 2820 County Road 10 around 10:02 p.m. after 54-year-old Gillbert Tegg Jr. lost control of his sprint car and struck a concrete barrier head-on, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Emergency crews from the Canandaigua Fire Department and Canandaigua Emergency Squad extricated Tegg from the wreckage. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with what deputies described as serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
An initial investigation suggests a mechanical issue may have contributed to the crash. No other injuries were reported.
