Cornell men’s lacrosse rolls past UAlbany to advance in NCAA Tournament

Cornell men’s lacrosse showcased its defensive dominance and star power on Sunday, defeating UAlbany 15-6 at Schoellkopf Field to advance to the NCAA quarterfinals. With the win, the top-seeded Big Red improved to 15-1 on the season.

Senior Jayson Singer led a stifling defensive effort, causing three turnovers as Cornell held the Great Danes to just six goals, one shy of its season-low. Goalie Wyatt Knust was sharp, making 12 saves, including nine over the first three quarters. The Big Red defense allowed only three goals over the game’s first 44 minutes, holding UAlbany scoreless for two extended stretches of over 15 minutes.

Cornell also dominated on ground balls (38-19) and faceoffs, with Jack Cascadden winning 13-of-20 draws.
