The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has announced its Hall of Fame Class of 2025, a group of six distinguished individuals who have made lasting contributions to high school athletics across the state. The induction ceremony will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at Rivers Casino and The Landing Hotel in Schenectady.
This year’s class includes:
- Bill Bryant, Administrator (Section IV)
- Don Cupertino, Coach (Section I)
- Larry Gualtieri, Official (Section XI)
- Terence “T” McMahon, Coach (Section VI)
- Marty Sherman, Contributor (Section II)
- Carl “Rollie” Stichweh, Athlete (Section VIII)
The inductees were selected through a rigorous two-tier process involving both screening and selection committees. Since its launch in 2002, the NYSPHSAA Hall of Fame has honored those who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to high school athletics in New York, with support from sponsors Zolnier Championship Rings, Crown Awards, and Pupil Benefits Plan, Inc.
Bill Bryant has been a fixture in New York athletics since 1976 and currently serves as Executive Director of Section IV. A former NFL signee and longtime athletic director, his legacy spans decades of leadership and advocacy for student-athletes.
Don Cupertino, with over 500 career wins, has guided Bronxville’s girls varsity soccer program to three state titles, earning a place among the state’s most successful coaches.
Larry Gualtieri has served as one of New York’s most respected multi-sport officials for five decades, recognized repeatedly for his excellence and leadership in Suffolk County and beyond.
Terence “T” McMahon, the winningest boys varsity tennis coach in state history, amassed more than 1,000 combined victories in boys and girls tennis during his remarkable career at Orchard Park High School.
Marty Sherman made his mark in coaching and administration, leading Corinth High School to success in multiple sports and serving as NYSPHSAA’s wrestling state coordinator since 2008.
Carl “Rollie” Stichweh, a four-sport standout at Mineola High School, went on to star at Army as a quarterback, earning All-American honors before serving in Vietnam.
The induction ceremony will begin with a 5:30 p.m. reception, followed by dinner. Ticketing and additional event details will be released at a later date.
