The New York State Public High School Athletic Association is providing free hazing prevention training to member schools. The “Hazing Prevention: It’s Everyone’s Responsibility” kit, developed through Prevent.Zone, aims to educate students about safety issues in athletics.
The initiative comes amid a criminal hazing case at Westhill Central School District, where varsity lacrosse players allegedly tied up and threatened a younger teammate with a knife and airsoft gun, even trapping him in a car trunk during a filmed incident.
Authorities also revealed an earlier failed hazing attempt the night before. The training program is part of broader efforts to prevent such dangerous behavior in schools statewide.
