Ontario County Public Health confirmed a measles case in a resident who has since fully recovered, with no risk to the public, according to the department.
The individual contracted the virus in late March outside the county, and no further cases or exposures have been reported. Quick isolation and vaccinations among contacts likely prevented the virus from spreading.
Officials urge residents to get the MMR vaccine, noting its high effectiveness. Nationwide, measles cases have surged to 935 across 30 states, driven largely by outbreaks in the U.S. Southwest and Ontario, Canada.
