  • Staff Report

Three people fishing on Cayuga Lake were cited for keeping undersized black crappie, according to the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Officers found 54 fish under the 10-inch minimum during an April 22 inspection at Mud Lock boat launch.

All three individuals admitted catching the fish and received tickets as part of a broader fishing compliance effort across New York. The DEC noted that violations involving out-of-season catches and size limits were common during the statewide checks.

Officials continue to remind anglers to follow regulations to protect fish populations.
