Deputies responding to a domestic complaint in Conquest discovered illegal weapons while investigating a reported assault.
Dale McCarthy was arrested after the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation into allegations that he forcibly touched intimate parts of a victim’s body without consent during a domestic incident on April 24.
According to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were initially dispatched to the Conquest Sheriff’s Substation to take the complaint. Members of the Criminal Investigations Division later executed a search warrant at McCarthy’s residence, where they found an illegally possessed muzzleloader and a set of brass knuckles.
McCarthy was charged with forcible touching, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree. He was arraigned at Centralized Arraignment, where an order of protection was issued. McCarthy was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
