The New York Yankees (21-16) turned a night of offensive frustration into a dramatic 4-3 win over the San Diego Padres (23-13) in 10 innings on Wednesday in the Bronx, erasing a late deficit after being no-hit into the seventh.

New York’s Max Fried delivered another ace-like performance, striking out eight over seven innings of one-run ball. The only blemish came in the fourth when Jackson Merrill took him deep on a first-pitch sweeper.

San Diego’s Dylan Cease was dominant, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh and striking out nine. Cody Bellinger finally broke through, crushing a solo home run to tie the game and end the no-hit bid.

After the Padres reclaimed the lead in the eighth with two runs against the bullpen, the Yankees responded. Trent Grisham, pinch-hitting in the bottom of the eighth, launched a two-run homer to tie the game again. It was his 10th long ball of the season, already surpassing his 2024 total.

In the 10th, after Devin Williams struck out the side to hold San Diego scoreless, the Yankees executed perfectly. Oswaldo Cabrera moved Jasson Domínguez over with a bunt, and pinch-hitter J.C. Escarra delivered a sac fly to seal the walk-off win.

Box Score

The Yankees will get the day off Thursday before traveling to Sacramento to open a three-game series with the Athletics on Friday at 10:05 p.m.
