Man arrested for child endangerment after Ovid incident

A man was taken into custody early Tuesday after a domestic disturbance in the Town of Ovid that authorities say endangered a child.

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reported that deputies arrested Matthew Steel, 24, of Ovid, around 1:53 a.m. on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, harassment in the second degree, and aggravated family offense.

According to officials, the arrest followed an investigation into a domestic incident involving a victim and occurring in the presence of a child. Deputies responded to the scene and conducted a formal inquiry before taking Steel into custody.

Steel was transported to the Seneca County Jail, where he was processed. Authorities said he will be arraigned at the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
